Updated June 2022.

  • ‘Online events’ include short courses and showcase lectures offered by Academy Travel, using the Zoom meeting platform.

  • All bookings must be made via our website. Bookings are made on a ‘per screen’ basis, with a maximum of two people per screen.

  • Full payment by credit card must be made online at the time of booking.

  • Short courses have a maximum of 15 screens. Online lectures are open to a large number of participants. If there is strong interest in an event, we will attempt to make repeat sessions available to satisfy demand.

All events require a minimum number of participants to be viable. If there is not adequate interest in an event we may be forced to cancel or reschedule it.

  • We will notify you by email when you have successfully enrolled in an event. The email will also include the Zoom link to join the event which you will click on to join, or copy and paste the link into your browser. A reminder email will also be sent shortly before the event. For short courses, the link will be the same each week. We assume you will check your email for these notifications.

  • Please choose carefully. All bookings are non-refundable. Under exceptional circumstances we may provide a transfer to another online event or a credit for a future online event.

  • Online courses

If a presenter is unable to provide a single session of an online course or if technical issues prevent the session from being broadcast, an alternative session will be offered at a similar time to the missed session. If the time of the alternative session is not convenient, you will be given access to a recording of that session.

    Online lectures

If we cancel an online lecture, or if technical issues prevent the session from being broadcast, you will be offered an alternative day and time for the same event or a full refund of your payment.

  • We will notify you by email of any cancellation or change of program as soon as possible. In the case of a presenter’s sudden illness or serious technical issues we may not be able to notify you in advance.

  • If an internet outage, slow speed or other issues with your internet connection prevent you from participating in an entire session, or a substantial part of it, then you will be given access to a recording of the session. If no recording is available then you will be given credit for a future session of equal value.

  • Academy Travel’s online events are delivered by qualified and experienced presenters and experienced local guides known to Academy Travel. All presenters are trained in the use of the Zoom platform and all events are monitored by peers for quality and consistency. All online events are also evaluated by participants.

Nevertheless, there are factors outside our control, such as the speed of internet services in your area. Moreover, while Zoom is a reliable platform, technical issues can occur and the overall standard of transmission is not as high as television or digital streaming. By enrolling in an online event you acknowledge these technological and logistical limitations.

If you are dissatisfied with either the academic or technical quality of Academy Travel’s online events we encourage you to let us know as quickly as possible so that we can respond appropriately. Please note that disagreement with the presenter or local guide’s academic point-of-view or interpretation, while regrettable, are not grounds for a refund or credit.
