Overview
Bound by the Bay of Bengal in the east, the Arabian Sea in the west and the Indian Ocean in the south, Southern India boasts an extraordinary history and an amazingly diverse culture.
The region shares a vast history with the north, yet its people, languages and customs tell different stories from the great swathe of history that has swept its tropical plains and mountains for millennia.
Join Judy Tenzing to learn about this region's varied past, from the rise and fall of great empires, to the great artistic and religious traditions which have sustained Southern India's extraordinary cultural legacy.
Your Expert lecturer
After graduating in Indian History, Judy Tenzing returned to India to travel, study and ultimately work as a tour guide. Living in the great subcontinent for over a decade and continuing to travel there for over 35 years has afforded Judy both a theoretical and hands-on knowledge of the history and cultures of this extraordinary country. The Mughal Empire has always been one of her passions, along with the British Raj which succeeded it, and her understanding of these periods has led to a clear grasp of Indian in the modern era. Judy takes pride in keeping up her scholarship in this field as new perspectives emerge on eras and figures of the past - such as the new views on Aurangzeb.

Our online lectures are hosted on Zoom, a free online education platform. If you don’t already have an account with Zoom, you will need to sign up at www.zoom.us. When joining our online lectures, you will not be able to join with video or audio.
